Upper Abdominal Ultrasound
This examination checks the organs in the upper abdomen above the navel, including the liver, spleen, gallbladder, duodenum, kidneys, and aorta, and the pancreas (partially visible in some cases). It is performed to detect abnormalities such as masses, kidney stones, or gallstones. This procedure is suitable for individuals with chronic abdominal pain or those aged 30 and older. Both men and women can undergo the examination.
Additional Recommendations
Please refrain from consuming any fatty foods and drinks for approximately 4-6 hours before the examination (plain water is permitted). Eating can cause the gallbladder to contract, making it difficult to visualize.
