About This Service

HPV infection is the leading cause of cervical cancer, but not all infected individuals will develop cancer. HPV DNA testing helps determine if the body is infected with high-risk HPV strains, allowing for early detection of abnormalities.
• If infection is detected but no abnormal cells have formed, doctors can monitor the situation and provide preventative advice.
• If infection and abnormal cells are found, treatment can begin at the precancerous stage, reducing future risks.

Who should get tested?
• Women 21 years and older – should begin Thin Prep (Liquid-Based Cytology) testing every 2 years.
• Women 30 years and older – Thin Prep combined with HPV DNA testing is recommended every 3–5 years.
• Women who are sexually active – because HPV infection is often associated with sexual contact.
• Those who have never been tested before – even without symptoms or a risk history, they should get tested.
• Those with high risk factors, such as having multiple sexual partners. Individuals with compromised immune systems, who smoke, or have a family history of cervical cancer:
- Cervical cancer screening using ThinPrep technique + HPV DNA High Risk 15 Genotype
- Internal examination by an obstetrician-gynecologist
