AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) or Alpha Hydroxy Acids is a group of acids extracted from nature such as fruit or milk. In 2026, AHA is still a popular ingredient in skincare for exfoliation and brightening.

Benefits of AHA for the skin

Commonly used types of AHA

Glycolic Acid (from sugarcane): has the smallest molecule, penetrates deep and sees the fastest results.

Lactic Acid (from milk): Gentler and helps moisturize well. Suitable for dry or sensitive skin.

Mandelic Acid (from almonds): has a large molecule, absorbs slowly and is the most gentle, suitable for people with acne and sensitive skin.

Citric Acid (from citrus fruits): Often used to adjust the pH of the product and help brighten.

Start using gradually: should start with a low concentration (5% or less) and use only 1-2 times a week to allow the skin to adapt.

USE IN THE EVENING: IT IS RECOMMENDED TO APPLY AHA ONLY BEFORE GOING TO BED BECAUSE IT WILL MAKE THE SKIN MORE SENSITIVE TO SUNLIGHT.

Always apply sunscreen: Must apply sunscreen SPF 30 or higher regularly every morning, even indoors to prevent sunburn and dark spots.

Do not use on skin with wounds: Avoid applying to areas with fresh wounds, sunburn or sensitive eyes.

Be careful when used with other substances: It is not recommended to use AHA with Retinol or Vitamin C in the same procedure because it can cause high irritation and thin skin.
