How Vivace Works

Vivace uses tiny microneedles that penetrate into the dermis and deliver radiofrequency (RF) energy precisely at the needle tips. This creates micro-thermal zones in the dermis while sparing the outer skin (epidermal sparing). These controlled thermal points stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin (neocollagenesis/neoelastogenesis), along with new micro-capillaries and better collagen alignment  resulting in firmer, smoother, and tighter skin over time.

Many Vivace systems use insulated needles, so the RF energy is concentrated only at the needle tips inside the dermis rather than the surface, reducing irritation and shortening downtime. Adjustable needle depths allow precise targeting of different skin concerns (fine/deep wrinkles, acne scars, enlarged pores).

RF delivery also depends on tissue impedance (related to skin hydration and collagen content). This explains why RF energy directed into the correct dermal layer produces both immediate collagen contraction and long-lasting collagen stimulation more effective than microneedling alone.

 

Why It Helps With Acne Scars, Pores, and Skin Tightening

Acne Scars (atrophic scars): Heat zones in the dermis cause existing collagen fibers to contract and trigger the wound-healing cycle. New collagen fills in and smooths scar bases, making rolling and boxcar scars significantly less visible after a course of treatments.

Enlarged Pores & Excess Sebum: Dermal collagen remodeling tightens pore walls, and RF can partially reduce sebaceous gland activity — leading to smaller-looking pores and less oily skin.

Skin Tightening & Wrinkles: RF causes both immediate contraction of collagen fibers and a gradual remodeling effect from new collagen and elastin, improving firmness and elasticity over weeks to months. Peak tightening is often observed around 3 months after completing a treatment course.

 

Result Timeline

Day–Week 1: Mild redness or tightness for 1–3 days. Skin may already appear smoother from temporary collagen contraction.

Treatment Experience

Topical numbing cream is applied before treatment. Discomfort is generally mild to moderate, felt in pulses.

After treatment: mild redness for 1–3 days, slight dryness or flaking for 2–5 days. Makeup and daily activities can usually be resumed quickly.
