Knee Osteoarthritis (Osteoarthritis)
is a degenerative condition of the articular cartilage, affecting the shape, structure, and function of the joints and the bones surrounding the joints. This damages the cartilage that cushions and facilitates knee movement. As cartilage wears away or disappears, the bones at the ends of the knee joint rub against each other directly during movement. Osteoarthritis is characterized by pain, swelling, stiffness, and limited mobility. These changes are irreversible and may progress to progressively more severe degeneration.
What types of knee pain indicate osteoarthritis?
